Square Inline Duct Fan

Square Inline Duct Fan

A square inline duct fan is specified where the duct system is square-section, not round. Commercial air supply and exhaust ducts are often square, and a round fan needs a reducer at each end, which adds leak points and takes up shaft space. This fan's casing section matches the standard square duct, and it is bolted in series with flange-to-flange connection, without a reducer. It is used for mid-section boosting and terminal exhaust in office, hotel and mall square duct systems, and in dust and waste-gas duct power sections.

Product Overview

A square inline duct fan is specified where the duct system is square-section, not round. Commercial air supply and exhaust ducts are often square, and a round fan needs a reducer at each end, which adds leak points and takes up shaft space. This fan's casing section matches the standard square duct, and it is bolted in series with flange-to-flange connection, without a reducer. It is used for mid-section boosting and terminal exhaust in office, hotel and mall square duct systems, and in dust and waste-gas duct power sections.

Core Advantages

Square casing section matches square duct, no reducer needed. Flange-to-flange bolting removes the reducers at each end, and with them the extra leak points and the shaft space they occupy.

Stiffened square casing. The casing is folded and welded from galvanised steel with reinforcing ribs welded at the four corners, so the casing is stiffer than a round one and does not deform under its own weight and air-stream load.

Backward-curved impeller, non-overloading. Motor power does not rise without limit as system resistance increases, so the motor does not overload where the actual resistance of a retrofit is uncertain.

Motor on the outside of the casing side plate. Oil vapour, dust and corrosive gas pass through the impeller and casing without touching the motor windings.

Application Scenarios

• Mid-section boosting in office air supply ducts where terminal volume is short
• Branch boosting before a hotel guest room exhaust riser
• Branch boosting in a mall toilet central exhaust system
• Power section of dust collection or waste-gas ducts in industrial service
• Square duct systems where a round fan would need reducers at both ends

OEM/ODM

For square duct systems, the casing and flange are made to the measured duct section so the fan drops into the existing run without a reducer, and the impeller is matched to the residual resistance of that run.

Customizable Items:
• Flange dimensions to existing square duct
• Discharge direction (same direction / turned)
• Anti-vibration hangers
• Flexible connectors
• Voltage to destination market

Quality Control

Flange faces are protected with covers against deformation, and the impeller is fixed against rotation in transit. Packing is a wooden case, suitable for sea freight. The reinforcing ribs at the four corners are checked before the flanges are welded, because the casing stiffness is the point on which this fan differs from a round inline fan.

FAQ

Q: Does a square duct fan perform differently from a round duct fan?

A: Core performance depends on the impeller type and motor power; the casing shape itself has little effect on air volume and pressure. The advantage of a square casing is in installation fit and stiffness, which suits square duct systems. Where the existing duct is round, a round duct fan is the better fit.

Q: Can this fan be installed inside a ceiling void?

A: Yes. Any of the four faces of the square casing can serve as the mounting face, so the fan can be hung from the top or fixed at the side depending on the ceiling void. Anti-vibration hangers are recommended so that vibration is not transmitted into the ceiling grid.
