Low Noise Centrifugal Fan

Low Noise Centrifugal Fan

A low noise centrifugal fan is specified for spaces with a strict acoustic requirement: hospital wards, school classrooms, libraries, hotel guest rooms, office meeting rooms. In these buildings the fan usually sits in a ceiling void or a plant room, but noise reaches occupied space through the duct and the building structure. A standard centrifugal fan may be at 60 dB(A) at its rated point, and installed noise can be 5 to 10 dB higher because of duct resonance and mounting.

Product Introduction

Product Overview

A low noise centrifugal fan is specified for spaces with a strict acoustic requirement: hospital wards, school classrooms, libraries, hotel guest rooms, office meeting rooms. In these buildings the fan usually sits in a ceiling void or a plant room, but noise reaches occupied space through the duct and the building structure. A standard centrifugal fan may be at 60 dB(A) at its rated point, and installed noise can be 5 to 10 dB higher because of duct resonance and mounting.

Core Advantages

Three-level noise control. The impeller is precision-balanced to cut vibration at source; the volute is lined with acoustic foam to absorb mid and high frequency noise; the motor is elastically mounted to block transmission into the ceiling or foundation.

Flat impeller characteristic for part-load noise. Many fans are quiet only at their best efficiency point, but commercial systems often run away from that point. The flat curve on this fan keeps the noise rise small at part load, which matches how variable-volume systems actually run.

Food-grade polyurethane acoustic lining. The lining does not give off odour or shed dust over long service, which matters where the fan is never inspected after installation.

Noise 40–60 dB(A) at 150–800 Pa. The band that covers hospital, school and hotel ventilation where the project has a stated acoustic limit.

Application Scenarios

• Ward exhaust in hospital buildings
• Classroom fresh air in schools
• Library ventilation
• Hotel guest room exhaust
• Meeting room air change in office buildings
• Basement exhaust and fresh air in residential projects where noise would reach residents

Quality Control

Acoustic material is packed moisture-proof, and the impeller is fixed for transport. Packing is carton or wooden case. Because the acoustic lining is the point on which the fan is selected, the lining is checked for adhesion and full coverage before the volute is closed.

FAQ

Q: Is the noise figure on the data sheet the actual installed noise?

A: The catalogue figure is measured under standard test conditions near the best efficiency point. Installed noise depends on the duct system, the mounting method and the building structure. Allow 5 dB margin at selection and apply vibration isolation and silencing measures.

Q: Can the acoustic foam inside the volute come loose and be blown into the duct?

A: The food-grade polyurethane foam is fixed by both adhesive and mechanical fastening, and does not come loose within the airflow velocity range. Where this is a concern, a stainless steel volute lined with glass wool behind a perforated plate can be specified.
